How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?
I was born in 1952. I remember a time when life was simple. No internet, no computers, only 1 phone per household. Food and gas were much cheaper to buy, elementary, junior and senior high schools were cheaper to attend. Boys wore slacks, a button shirt with pocket, and leather shoes. Starting junior high school you had to buy tennis shoes and a gym exercise shirt and shorts.
The quality of the teaching was better then. Textbooks were printed by the state department of education and the subject matter was not “dumbed down “ so that kids would find it easier understand . The kids were forced to adapt and learn how to understand each subject. There was no coddling of anyone.
TV urograms were simple and presented a well adjusted family (father, mother, and 2 or more kids), with TV stations broadcasting from 6am to midnight, and then signing off for the night. All shows were shot in black and white.
Today is completely different from the era I knew. Cellphones, computers, the internet, emails, and other electronic devices that would lead to a totally different world view. People feel isolated more so, than just 10 years ago.
I could go on and on, filling more of life has changed and will constantly change as time passes by.
Life was simpler then and life has become more and more complicated and distressing everyday. What other takes on this subject are out there?
