The furthest place I have traveled to was Incirlik AB, Adana, Turkey, in 1980 while in the U.S. Air Force. I was the Chief Engineer for the American Forces Radio and Television Station (AFRTS). I was stationed there from January,1980 to February,1981. While there I learned to speak the Turkish language and eat Turkish food. The broadcasting crew filmed the crash site of an Air Force C130 transport aircraft that slammed into the ground because of very heavy fog, in the countryside. Everyone was hoping to find survivors, but the plane smashed into a hill at 180 mph. There were no survivors and no plane, just bits of bodies and plane scattered over a 1 mile radius from the crash site. The broadcasting crew filmed everything so that Air Force investigators could use during the inquest. The broadcast crew threw all their clothes and shoes away as they were contaminated with mud, blood, and tiny body fragments. Everyone was in shock for about 2 months, including the base personnel.
